Overview

Recipee is a cooking utility for importing recipes, scaling ingredient amounts, converting kitchen units, saving recipes locally, and optionally using AI-powered recipe features.

Information Stored on Your Device

Recipee stores saved recipes, recent recipes, favorites, serving counts, edited ingredient amounts, and saved calorie estimates locally on your device. This local recipe library is used so you can reopen recipes without fetching the original page again.

You can remove saved recipes from the app's recent and favorite lists. You can remove all local app data by deleting the app from your device.

Recipe Imports

When you import a recipe from a URL, Recipee fetches the recipe page so it can read the recipe title, ingredients, instructions, image, and serving information. Some recipe sites may be retried through a reader service when direct import does not work.

YouTube recipe imports may use video metadata, the description, and available captions or transcript text to extract a structured recipe.

AI Features

Recipee can use AI for optional features such as ingredient substitutions, YouTube recipe extraction, and calorie estimates. When these features are used, Recipee may send recipe-related content to the configured backend service, including:

Production builds should send these requests through the Recipee Cloudflare Worker proxy so API keys stay server-side. The proxy forwards the request to the configured AI provider.

Do not include sensitive personal information in recipe text, recipe URLs, or manually entered ingredients.

AI substitutions and calorie estimates are generated automatically and can be wrong. They are not medical advice, dietary advice, or certified nutrition labels.

Analytics

Recipee uses Firebase Analytics for privacy-conscious product metrics. Analytics helps measure whether the app is useful before adding ads or paid features.

Recipee logs product events such as recipe import status, manual recipe entry, recipe screen opens, saved recipe reopen, favorite changes, serving changes, ingredient amount edits, unit switching, AI substitution requests, calorie estimate views, and YouTube import status.

Recipee's custom analytics events do not include raw recipe URLs, recipe titles, ingredient text, cooking steps, user names, email addresses, or saved recipe contents. Events use source type, counts, options, and success or failure categories.

In addition to those custom events, Firebase Analytics may automatically collect standard measurement data such as an app-instance identifier, device and app version information, and basic usage or diagnostic signals needed to operate the analytics SDK. Recipee does not use this data for advertising personalization or cross-app tracking in the current release.

Analytics retention and access are managed in the Firebase project settings for the production app.

Ads and Paid Features

Recipee does not currently show ads in the app. If ads are added later, this policy and the App Store / Google Play disclosures must be updated before release. Ads should stay outside the active cooking screen.

Recipee does not currently offer paid digital features. If paid features are added later, they should use the appropriate Apple or Google in-app purchase system.

Service Providers

Recipee may use service providers to operate app features, including Firebase Analytics, Cloudflare Workers, Google Gemini, and reader services for recipe import fallback when a site cannot be imported directly. These services may process data as needed to provide the requested app feature.

Children's Privacy

Recipee is not directed to children. Do not use Recipee to submit personal information about children.

Changes

This policy may be updated when Recipee changes its data practices, adds ads, adds paid features, changes analytics providers, or changes AI/backend providers.
